Hi, I'm Oran - founder & host
I grew up in Ireland and have called Canada home for the past 10 years. My wife and I moved here because, honestly, people seemed a little friendlier ! That turned out to be a pretty good reason to stay.
I'm a massive fan of Taskmaster, game shows, and anything that gets people laughing, competing, and having a good time together. So naturally, I ended up turning that obsession into a job.
It started with a game night.
A few years ago, I started hosting game nights for my friends in Toronto.There wasn’t really a grand plan behind it. I just wanted to get people together, put our phones away, have a few drinks, and do something a little different.But pretty quickly, those nights started growing. Friends brought friends, more people wanted in, and before long, bars started reaching out asking if I could bring the games to them.What started as a few friends around a table became something much bigger than I expected.

Then I moved to Halifax!
Moving to Halifax gave me a chance to start it all over again. But this time, I wanted to make it about more than just games. Because the older I get, the more I realize how hard it can be to actually meet people.
You can live in a city surrounded by thousands of people and still find yourself wondering, “How do I actually make new friends here?” So that's what I want our game nights to help with.
More than a game night
Halifax Games & Social is built around games, but the games are really just the excuse to bring people together.
You show up, put your phone away, meet some new people, get competitive, laugh at yourself a little, and hopefully leave knowing a few more people than you did when you walked in.
Whether you come with a whole group of friends, one friend, or completely on your own, you're welcome here.
I want our events to be the kind of night where you don't have to worry about making plans, figuring out what to do, or awkwardly trying to meet people.
Just show up.
